Rocks and minerals room
It represents the composition of the earth’s crust, the main geodynamic events and the different environments in which rocks have been shaped. Wonderful varieties of minerals from all over the world are here exposed, with references to genesis, crystal structure and chemical classification. A huge sector is dedicated to sulphur. Particularly suggestive is the space dedicated to fluorescent minerals. It’s interesting to observe how the human being used rocks and minerals since the prehistory.

Conference room
The architectural spaciousness and elegance are suitable to contain conferences, events and exposition, even if they are independent from the museum activity.

Territory room
The territory room connects the museum with the surrounding environment. Samples, photos and documents identify the evolution of the mining activity and of the human development, from the first prehistoric settlements until the industrial era. It allows to continue the analysis directly on the territory which is rich of finds and of precious singularities.

The way of sulphur
From the sulphur stone to the pig sulphur , the work of miners was incessant. Three shifts of work assured 24 hours per day of production. Miners, timber men, carting men, road men, organized in teams, filled up galleries in hundreds, facing the underground unknown even until 60 meters under the sea level. Lamps, masks and mining tools have been fundamental tools for each miner. A significant example of centuries spent underground by the human being is the collection of lamps: from the earthenware lamp of the roman era to the oil acetylene lamp, from the security lamp to the flashlight. From the depths of underground, men and minerals went up through wells and inclined shafts until the external yard, where in fusion plants (Calcheroni or Gill furnaces) rocks were separated from sulphur.

Workshops
Inside the Certino mining plant, workshops and carpentries were set between the power station and the compressors room, next to the lamp room and the winch room. Mechanical workshops were fundamental for the yard efficiency; they needed 60 specialized workers who carried out tools reparation tasks and the maintenance of technological plants in the external yards and underground. The wide equipment of machineries underlines the strategic relevance of these divisions.

The mine
While waiting the recovery of a part of the mine in order to visit it in safe condition, the museum proposes a succession of underground yards scenographicly rebuilt. The way of the artificial mine, essential point of a museological project characterized by progressive levels of deepening, allows to cross working ambient that show the evolution of the mining activity in Perticara from the XVII to the XX century, kindling emotional and amazing suggestions. Ways for people with limited mobility are contemplated.

Market and bookshop
The museum proposes a large choice of books and publications connected with the extractive activity in Perticara and cross- sections of the local life. Wide selection of minerals and souvenirs.

Ancient scientific tools
The museum exposes a precious collection of ancient scientific tools for topographic and environmental observations. Compasses, graphometers, inclinometer, plane-tables, theodolites, anemometers, tacheometers, levels are disposed in a sequence that reflects the scientific progress of the human being applied on orientation and measure instruments. The collection contains finds from the XVII to the XX century and it’s integrated with a multimedia support.

Library
The library is set in the Romagna/San Marino network and it’s mainly oriented to the analysis of geologic, mineralogical, mining and historic themes, not only of local importance, but also national and international. Ancient editions of mining art treatises from the second half of the XVI century are really precious.

Archive
The archive contains a wide technical and administrative documentation. It represents an important element in order to carry out researches in the last two centuries.

Vittoria Well
It’s the last well that still stands. Originally there were other seven wells, that studded the landscape and allowed the access and the airing of the underground. With its huge structure, it dominates the scenario and as a lighthouse, it indicates the location of the museum. In safety since the 1964, with its more than 300 meters of depth and its incredible metallic castle, it still sits up over the Certino yard that today is full of tourists who look for one of the biggest mine of Europe.
