preservation of the mining patrimony
The mining museum park of the sulphur mines of Marche was instituted in 2005 as a national park. It was born in order to remember and honor generations of miners who, through a hard and dangerous work and sometimes losing their lives, contributed, in a meaningful way, first to the birth and then to the development of an Italian chemical- mining division equal to our European partner. In the XX century the mine of Perticara and the mine of Cabernardi, both set in the region Marche, represented an excellence in the national mining scenario, achieving peaks of productivity comparable with the Sicilian sulphur basin. The sulphur extracted in these mining plants was sent to Bellisio Solfare, where there were some refinement plants. The institution of the park is considered an instrument of preservation , recovery and promotion of a unique patrimony belonging to the national panorama. |
