the marching band
The first marching band was born 8th September 1860, it was formed by miners and its seat was in Miniera. After a while was constituted also a second marching band with seat in Perticara and soon the rivalry and the competition became something ordinary. Anyway the philharmonic society was able to handle the two marching bands. After several decades of antagonism, the engineer Valsecchi managed to unite the two marching bands and this event was celebrated the day of St. Martin in November 1929. Then it started the most wonderful period of the marching band. The crisis connected to the closing of the mine run down the marching band too, whose staff was composed by miners that now were obliged to look for a job somewhere else. The inhabitants of Perticara, determined not lo lose that tradition, applied themselves in order to reorganize the marching band and in order to set up musical lessons that were necessary for the diffusion of the musical culture. What is more they substituted all the musicians that had to leave the village. Among thousands of troubles the marching band managed to overcome all the difficult moments and to regain its historic importance and its professionalism. In august 2010 the miners marching band of Perticara celebrated its 150 year of activity.
